"Each tree represents a person who did not make it,
to be able to continue to see a worthwhile meaning in life and to seek a way out of suffering through suicide, although he actually wanted to live.
On a hike around the world, I will plant plant TREES of MEMORY of deceased people who died by suicide. Since 31.03.2018 I am hiking and planting. The places where I plant a tree, i.e. where you lived with your deceased loved ones or relatives or where you spent good times, determined the route of my hike around the world.
TREES of MEMORY does not follow any political, religious or esoteric idea. I follow only my deepest, innermost conviction and feelings, based on the suicide of my partner and the loss that dramatically changed my life. Everyone, regardless of religion or belief, is invited to become part of TREES of MEMORY.
TREE OF MEMORY
Each tree stands for a person who has left us: a suicide victim.
Each tree is intended to draw society's attention to the victims and their surviving dependents. To remind all of us not to stigmatise people with depression or suicidal thoughts or treat their relatives the same way.
Do not handle this topic like a taboo.
TRAUMATISATION
Each tree represents a wife, husband, child, sibling, parents and whole families who are traumatised and have lost the most important person in life.
These relatives deserve help and compassion and need friends to support them.
Help them back into a worth living life.
LOVE TREE
Each tree is the image of an individual relationship, love or friendship.
Just as every love began as a glance in a café. It is the picture of your own child grews up.
The small trees grow as stately trees and like love, become more and more beautiful with age and size.
THE IDEA
Each tree is like a candle in the darkness, as an encouraging tree for all those who think they have no perspective.
Who, like me, not some time ago, are sitting at the bottom of hell and cannot believe that life will get better and that happiness and fulfilment can be present again, even if it seems to be nothing left to fight for.
TREES OF LIFE
These trees of life, as memorials of the deceased, are also aimed to people who, surrounded by the cold and darkness, powerlessly resigned, no longer dare to open any more doors in the dark dungeon of their psychological basement.
But they have to, because somewhere down there there is a candle for every single one of them behind closed doors. The candle that brings light and points the way to the key that opens the door to a fulfilled life.
ENDLINESS
The trees of memory stand on a ring around the earth.
A self-contained path that stands for love, friendship, courage, hope and the infinity of life.
An eternally visible symbol, which should give people all over the world hope and courage to discover new perspectives that lead back to life.
